Ultrasound Pics from Week 32

As promised, here are the ultrasound pictures from week 32. He has gotten a lot bigger than the previous ultrasound and only his face really fits into the frame now. From the looks of it, he is going to be a great kisser - ha!

We will obviously use the third image to embarass him later on...

Enjoy!

A Room with a View

This is the one nice thing about my pie shaped room, the view. It overlooks Lake Michigan and every morning, I open the shades to this fantastic view. It still is not the same as being able to go out and enjoy the spring blooms, but it's enough to get me through the day.

Based on the hospital tracks on the ceilinge, at one point this room used to be for 2 patients, but now this hospital has all private rooms. Aside from my bed, there is a sink and vanity as well a couch for Martin's sleeping comfort and a chair for visitors. Unlike most rooms, mine is especially large thanks to a request by my doctor and I also have a fridge, which I use to stash as much food as I can. I can't say that I will miss this place as I am desperate to go home, but it has been pretty cozy and treated me okay so far.

So far, I have had over 38 nurses during my stay here. For the most part, they are all incredibly nice and have taken extremely good care of me.

Thank you Rowena, Michelle, Justine, Kristen, Jonna, Rose, Barb, Brittney, Jenny, Becky, Boa, Annmarie, Tasha, Althea, Holly, Megan, Amy, Julie, Angie, Chris, Maryanne, Pat, Kim, Leondra, Gisele, Melissa, Lara, Sue, Carol, Trang, Paige, Karol, Lena, Julita, Angela, Beth, Kathy, Abby, and anyone else who has not put their name on the board...

The Belly

I know a lot of you have not had the opportunity to see Arlene in some time, so here's a peek inside 333 E. Superior. Ar would prefer a bit more modesty, but this is me asking her to "unleash the belly." She's full of baby.

Week 34 Day 2 - TGIF!

so, now that i have a walking around pass, i have been cruising around my room, trying to get this party started. so far nothing, but i have a feeling it won't be until may anyway. it's good to get out of bed and walk around. i can't believe how long i have been laying around for and how much strength i have lost.

above is our ultrasound at 29 1/2 weeks, look at that face and those chubby cheeks!

for anyone who needs an update on the baby. at our last ultrasound, he weighed in at 5lbs 1oz, which is in the 75-90% range, so he is a big baby - thank you martin for your contribution of making big babies...he is probably somewhere over 6lbs now, but we will find out during our ultrasound next week. also, i was also diagnosed with gestational diabetes around week 29, so he is also expected to be a little chubby. he is an active little guy and kicks around a lot at night. right now, he's got the hiccups, which is really a crazy feeling.

on a totally unrelated note, my resident, who was 35 weeks pregnant, delivered her baby yesterday and ironically, is in the room next door to mine. apparently, her waters ruptured at 5 a.m. and she did rounds before she went to labor and delivery, because i saw her at her usual 6:30 a.m. rounds. wild, what people do when they are in labor.

Week 34 Day 1

well, we are finally 34 weeks and past the critical milestones in our baby's development. we are still trying to "cook" this baby as long as can - that is the medical term for not laboring - but we expect to deliver the baby in the next 3 weeks. anyone want to take any bets on the due date???

so, i have been in the hospital for a little over 7 weeks now and during this time, i have found a new respect for any woman who has ever had to bedrest. in addition, i have learned the following things about myself:
  • hospital food is horrible, so don't trust anyone who tells you different. also, when they say meatloaf, salisbury steak, or hamburger, it is all the same thing...
  • showering while sitting down is by far the laziest thing you can do in the bathroom, but maybe also the best.
  • mild ocd is not a bad thing and can actually help pass the time
  • collase rules

also, i may have broken a world record for staying in my pajamas for 2 months and i haven't worn a bra or real shoes in as long either...excellent.

on a side note, many thanks to all those who have called, sent letters, emails, care packages, and especially those who have stopped by to visit. it has been a difficult last couple months, and all your thoughts are much appreciated. i would have never have made it this far without you all.
